Gary D. Kane, CPA/ABV, CVA, MSA
Gary Kane is owner and managing partner of Kane & Associates, and a licensed CPA in the state of Florida. His primary responsibilities include the planning and utilization of personnel, budgeting, cash flow management, and overall firm marketing. Mr. Kane has been responsible for all tax preparation and planning functions within the firm. He performs the final, technical review of all audit and review engagements.
Mr. Kane has lectured widely on various aspects of income and estate planning and personal financial planning. He has appeared on several local television shows and has appeared on a national cable television program broadcast on the Satellite Program Network. With his background in tax and financial planning, Mr. Kane has been instrumental in assisting clients in the formation, implementation, and management of several real estate ventures, beginning with the planning stage through the completion and ultimate management or sale.
Mr. Kane received his BSBA with honors with a major in accounting from the University of Florida and has a Masters of Science in Accountancy from the University of Central Florida. He has over thirty-five years of public accounting experience, including four years with the international accounting firm of Alexander Grant (Orlando, Florida), before becoming a founding partner of Kane & Associates of Winter Park, Florida, in 1975. Mr. Kane was also an accountant with Chevron Oil Company in charge of fixed asset accounting for all oil and gas properties in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama.
Mr. Kane is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and has satisfied the requirements to be accredited in Business Valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Kane is a Certified Valuation Analyst and member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is past president of the Central Florida Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning and has served as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Mr. Kane has been an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida teaching intermediate accounting and has assisted the Small Business Development Center at the University of Central Florida in lectures on business adquisition and accounting systems for small businesses. Mr. Kane assists attorneys in numerous areas, including tax planning, litigation, and divorce settlements. He has testified for over twenty years as an expert witness in Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Seminole, and Volusia counties.
Christy T. Henns, CPA/ABV, CFF, CVA, MBA
Christy Henns is the tax and client accounting services manager of Kane & Associates, and is a licensed CPA in the state of Florida. She started with the firm in 1981, and her primary responsibilities include tax return preparation and review, client accounting services management, litigation support, forensic accounting, and business valuations. Her prior experience includes Controller of The Kirchman Corporation in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Ms. Henns received her BA with honors from Rollins College with a combined major in accounting and economics. She received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.
Ms. Henns is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and has satisfied the requirements to be accredited in Business Valuation and certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Henns is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. She is active in the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, serving as Treasurer, past Co-Chair, and committee member of the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. She is a graduate of Leadership Winter Park Class VII, and has served as Treasurer for the Leadership Winter Park Alumni Council. Ms. Henns has also served on the Advisory Board of the Heart of Florida United Way – Winter Park.
Joan Schlottmann, CPA/ABV, CFF, CVA
Joan Schlottmann is the audit manager for Kane & Associates, and has worked for the firm since 1988. She is a licensed CPA in the State of Florida. As audit manager, Ms. Schlottmann plans and supervises all audit and review engagements. She is responsible for the firm’s compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards.
Ms. Schlottmann received her BS with honors with a major in accounting from Louisiana State University. Her prior experience includes auditing with the international accounting firms of Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Deloitte & Touche.
Ms. Schlottmann is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has satisfied the requirements to be accredited in Business Valuation and certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Schlottmann is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Ms. Schlottmann is past president of the American Society of Women Accountants, and serves as Treasurer for her neighborhood homeowners’ association.
Sandra L. Giglietta
Sandy Giglietta has been a staff accountant at Kane & Associates since 1980 after beginning as a secretary in 1977. Ms. Giglietta’s responsibilities include preparing compiled financial statements, corporate income tax returns, payroll and sales tax returns, and bank reconciliations.
Ms. Giglietta is active in the community and is especially involved in volunteering for Greyhound Pets of America.
Dona Conlon
Dona Conlon has been a staff accountant at Kane & Associates since 1987. Her responsibilities include preparing individual and corporate tax returns, preparing compiled financial statements, and preparing payroll and sales tax returns. Ms. Conlon maintains up-to-date knowledge specifically related to individual income tax through continuing education classes.
Ms. Conlon received her AA with honors from Seminole Junior College and attended Florida State University. Her experience includes serveral accounting jobs, including seven years at National Car Rental’s truck division. She volunteers her time helping in her church and communtiy in College Park.
Jay Ramkerath
Jay Ramkerath joined Kane & Associates in 2010 as an Administrative Assistant. Ms. Ramkerath migrated from Montreal, Canada, where she worked five years as a Tax Administrative Assistant at Nexia Friedman, Charted Accounting Firm. Ms. Ramkerath’s diverse experience includes working one year as receptionist for Hospitality Galleries, two years as Receptionist and Administrative Assistant at Shores, Tagman and Butler, CPAs, and an additional five years as a Tax Administrative Assistant in the tax department of Martinez, Olson & Associates, CPAs, in Winter Springs. She also volunteers her time helping the elderly in her community.
